The day I chose pleasure over debt and what it taught me about real abundance

I walked away from my first marriage with 20k in debt.

I turned 30 that year. 

People around me projected that leaving “a good man” and choosing me, would mean financial ruin. I would sign up for a life of lack. A ceiling I’d never break through.

I couldn't believe that choosing myself, from the deepest, most honest place in my heart…would cost me my future.

That's what people around me projected. That leaving, choosing me, would mean financial ruin. A life of lack. 

And I refused to believe it.

What debt taught me about the energy of money 

Here's what became undeniably clear to me in that season of my life: the energy you choose around money is a choice. Even when the numbers say otherwise.

I was in debt and I chose not to live in the energy of debt.

I want to be careful here: this isn't a "manifest your way out of reality" story. I took full responsibility for what I owed. I took responsibility for the fact that this was a lesson I needed. I went all-in on understanding the energy of money, not just the mechanics of it.

And at the same time? I still went to dinner with friends. I went to the gym. I spent money on things that made me feel good and alive and like myself.

I held both at once: my current reality, and the energy of the woman I was becoming.

That’s the nuance most people miss.

The two traps I see women fall into

Too often, I watch women do one of two things:

They go all-in on mindset and law of attraction and then blame the Universe when nothing shifts. Because without the inner work, without actually becoming the woman who receives differently, the affirmations are just words.

Or they stay stuck in their current self. Making every decision from the version of themselves that's still carrying fear around money, still giving money (or other people's opinions) power over their choices.

I understand both. When you're making a big leap, it almost feels delusional. Like you're lying to yourself.
